Horseback Ranch Celebrates 30th Anniversary with Eye-Catching Giant Rainbow Horse

Ringing in the new year with a fresh look, the Dajia Horseback Ranch gave its 16-meter-tall giant horse, built two years ago, a brand-new makeover. With an investment of nearly NT$5 million, the ranch reinforced the internal steel structure of the horse and used computerized 3D drawing software to meticulously calculate the design, then applied over 400 aluminum composite panels. The structure has transformed from its original straw appearance into a vibrant rainbow warhorse, standing majestically on the vast grassland and truly catching the eye.

The massive horse, weighing six tons and built from straw, has become a new landmark at the ranch. Visitors can also enjoy panoramic views of the natural landscape from the internal observation deck. In celebration of the ranch’s 30th anniversary, the transformation began last September, was completed by the end of the year, and was officially unveiled on the 23rd — an impressive reveal.

Wu Zhengren, General Manager of the Tainan City Farmers’ Association, said that Horseback Ranch has officially entered its 30th year of operation and is a key destination for outdoor education and leisure tourism, mainly attracting domestic visitors and agricultural tour groups. However, in recent years, due to external environmental factors, visitor numbers have gradually declined, with last year seeing a decrease of around 30%, which has had a significant impact on operations. Still, the ranch aims to offer visitors a refreshing experience, and alongside the rainbow warhorse, it has launched a series of experiential activities.

In addition to the star attraction — the giant rainbow warhorse — the “Rainbow Fun” series of events also features a straw maze made from 500 straw balls. The ranch also invited renowned artist Wang Yixun to create large-scale 3D paintings at various spots within the park, such as the fountain and the grassland restaurant, incorporating the ranch’s unique characteristics to provide even more Instagram-worthy photo spots.

Qiu Zixuan, head of the marketing planning team at Horseback Ranch, said the event runs from the 27th through March 4th. It includes a 30th-anniversary ticket thank-you promotion, with free admission for children under 6, and special discounts for Tainan residents during the Lunar New Year holiday period. Additionally, the ranch has planned a variety of activities such as agri-food experience programs, high-platform guided tours of the rainbow horse, Ukrainian stunt shows and Kazakh horse racing performances, DIY painting activities, street parades, pet picnic events, grassland sports games, and campfire evenings.
