Taiwanese Chef André Chiang’s Restaurant Makes It to the World’s 50 Best Restaurants List

The results of the 2016 World’s 50 Best Restaurants have been announced, with the top spot claimed by the Italian restaurant “Osteria Francescana,” while Taiwanese celebrity chef André Chiang’s Singapore-based restaurant “Restaurant ANDRÉ” was ranked 32nd, moving up 14 places from last year’s 46th position.

Organized by the UK’s Restaurant magazine and judged by nearly a thousand international chefs, food critics, and gourmands, the list of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants is hailed as the “Oscars of the culinary world” and is a highly authoritative gastronomic guide.

The Singapore-based restaurant “Restaurant ANDRÉ,” led by renowned Taiwanese chef André Chiang, ranked 32nd in the selection. His restaurant “RAW” in Taiwan is also immensely popular and is reputed to be the most difficult to book. With its refined dining atmosphere, it combines Western flavors with creatively localized Taiwanese cuisine—every bite is a delightful surprise.

Additionally, Tokyo’s kaiseki restaurant “Nihonryori RyuGin 龙吟,” which ranked 31st, has opened an overseas branch in Taiwan called “Shōun Ryūrin,” serving top-tier Japanese cuisine. The menu changes with the seasons, using modern culinary techniques to present a diverse and exquisite flavor experience.
