Taoyuan Airport Enters a Period of Traffic Disruptions; Arrive Early When Traveling Abroad

Taoyuan Airport has planned the relocation and two-way expansion of the WC taxiway, upgrading from the original single-line to a double-line taxiway. To accommodate the two-phase construction, traffic routes to and from the airport via national highways are being adjusted successively. Travel times during peak hours will increase, and travelers heading abroad are reminded to arrive at the airport earlier.

The first phase of the project involves partial closure of the highway approach to the airport (Terminal South Road), which will be rerouted via the expanded Terminal North Road. During the second phase, the section from the Terminal North Road underpass to the China Airlines campus will be closed for construction, with speed limits reduced from the current 70 km/h to 50 km/h. Travel times during peak hours are estimated to increase by 15 to 20 minutes.

Taoyuan Airport planningFor the WC taxiway relocation and two-way expansion project, to avoid disruptions caused by changes in traffic routes, passengers are urged to arrive at the airport 2.5 to 3 hours before their flight’s departure. It is also recommended to use public transportation whenever possible. Drivers are reminded to follow airport traffic signs carefully during the route adjustments.
