Mii ZEN Tonkatsu has ten branches in Japan (as of August 2016), with its flagship store located in Aoyama. There are five stores in Tokyo, and others spread across Yokohama, Sapporo, Ibaraki, Nagano, and Saitama. Its brand counters are also found all over Japan. With a history of fifty years, Mii ZEN was founded in Showa Year 40 (1965), initially setting up at the Mitsubishi Building in Yurakucho, Hibiya, Tokyo. Three years later, it moved to the basement food court of Mitsukoshi Department Store in Nihonbashi. In 1978, the Mii ZEN Aoyama main building was established, followed by the Aoyama flagship store in 1983. It originally sold only home-style fried foods and tonkatsu, but after gaining popularity, it evolved into a restaurant chain brand loved by consumers.

If you’re visiting Tokyo, you can find Mii ZEN tonkatsu at Shibuya Tokyu Department Store’s Tokyu, Shibuya Hikarie, and Marunouchi Takashimaya. The flagship store is open until 22:45, Tokyu until 22:30, and both Shibuya Hikarie and Marunouchi Takashimaya until 23:00 — so you don’t have to worry about early closing times. In Taiwan, operating hours will align with the department store’s schedule. In October, when Mii ZEN opens in Taiwan, you can taste Tokyo’s most popular, crispy-outside-and-tender-inside tonkatsu.
