Taiwan-Japan Railway Friendship: The Renowned Tze-Chiang Limited Train Transforms into an Eye-Catching Gold-Toned Tobu Railway Train

Tobu Railway’s Nikko To SPACIA train is a limited-edition express service that began operating on April 18, 2015, created to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Toshogu Shrine’s major festival. It features a design in gold and black to convey solemnity and grandeur. The special edition logo of the Nikko To SPACIA also incorporates imagery of a sleeping cat and three monkeys, symbolizing the scenic attractions around the Toshogu Shrine. This unique design can now also be seen on Taiwanese railways, making it a must-see for train enthusiasts and travelers who enjoy the rail experience.

Additionally, Tobu Railway’s Ryomo (200 series limited express) ran a train in October 2016 painted in the livery of TRA’s Puyuma Express, and it is still in operation (visible at Tobu’s Asakusa Station). Travelers visiting Japan can also spot a train with the Puyuma look, adding another charming chapter to Taiwan-Japan railway friendship.
