A popular long-standing Italian pasta spot in Tainan — don’t miss their sirloin steak with spaghetti!

Last updated 2026-09-25 — I was thinking about having dinner at Buongiorno Italian Pasta today — a place I hadn’t visited in ages. At first, I just wanted to snap a few photos to update the menu later. But when I got home and turned on my computer, I realized I hadn’t even planned to write anything. I was really, really surprised, so I even went looking through the site and Google... nothing. So where did that strong feeling that I must have written about it come from?! Anyway, since I hadn’t, I’ll just write it now.

I was thinking about having dinner at Buongiorno Italian Pasta today — a place I hadn’t visited in ages.

Before writing this article, I looked through my archives and happened to find some cute photos of D’s child from when they came to eat here. A child’s growth is irreversible and changes so much — every photo is incredibly precious to parents.

The point of taking photos isn’t about what fancy gear you use, but about capturing the moment you love and being able to revisit it later. The same goes for photos, and also for restaurants.

Buongiorno, which has been open for over ten years, is considered an old-school Italian pasta spot in Tainan. There was a time when you couldn’t get a seat during peak dining hours, but lately, with fierce competition, shorter business hours, and limited parking nearby, business seems to have slowed down. We had forgotten about them for quite a while too. But after tonight’s dinner, that familiar, wonderful taste came rushing back, and I think I’ll be back again soon.

Let’s take a look at their increasingly streamlined menu.

They’ve also started selling sauce packets for home cooking.

The salad dressing is light and not overly sharp. In fact, all the dishes here are relatively refreshing and easy on the stomach — I’m a fan of this lightly seasoned style.

The corn chowder is the same.

The seafood fettuccine features fresh, generously sized seafood, and the pasta is cooked to perfection — it absorbs the sauce beautifully and is truly enjoyable.

The bacon and cheese tomato sauce fettuccine is also good, though I personally prefer stir-fried pasta more.

That said, my favorite dish is the sirloin steak with spaghetti. The pasta is cooked just right — slightly firm and a bit chewy. The sirloin steak is excellent in terms of doneness, flavor, and portion size.

The risotto retains a slight bite in the center, which is also my preferred style.

While Buongiorno’s prices aren’t exactly cheap, the taste and portion sizes match the cost. It’s filling yet satisfying. If you feel most local Italian pastas are too “Taiwanized,” you might want to give Buongiorno a try — I personally love their pasta.
