Taiwan Railways Administration announced that to accommodate the anticipated surge in travel demand during this year’s Spring Festival holiday, the main line of the Alishan Forest Railway (between Chiayi and Shizilu) will operate two scheduled up-and-down services (Chiayi–Fenchihu) daily from February 16 (Lunar New Year's Day) to February 20 (Lunar New Year's Fifth Day), totaling five days. These are reserved-seat trains (Alishan trains). Additionally, from February 17 to February 20, one scheduled up-and-down service (Chiayi–Fenchihu–Shizilu) per day will be provided as non-reserved-seat trains (Zhongxing trains).
TRA noted that reserved seats on Alishan Forest Railway scheduled services for the Spring Festival holiday period from February 15 to February 20 will open for online booking starting at 6:00 AM on Friday, January 26. Phone and automated phone booking will not be available. After completing online booking, passengers must collect their tickets within two days at the Alishan Forest Railway ticket office in Chiayi, Beimen Station, Fenchihu Station, or Alishan Station, or at any TRA computerized ticketing station.
TRA emphasized that nationwide post offices and the four major convenience store chains (Uni-President, FamilyMart, Hi-Life, and OK Mart) will not offer ticket pick-up services for these services.
