Penghu Fireworks Festival: What You Need to Know About Traffic Control Measures

The 2017 International Marine Fireworks Festival kicked off enthusiastically on April 20 and will run for two months until June 22, featuring a total of 22 events. Recently, the Magong Police Precinct announced traffic control and parking/evacuation information to ensure smooth traffic flow and optimal viewing conditions. This year, 16 of the events will be held at the Guanyin Pavilion area, with vehicle restrictions in the following no-entry zones for cars and motorcycles:
(1) Intersection of Jieshou Road and Minzu Road.
(2) Intersection of Minsheng Road and Minzu Road.
(3) In front of the main gate of Guanyin Pavilion (Jieshou Road).
(4) Side entrance of Penghu Maritime and Aquatic Vocational School.
The restricted hours are from 17:00 to 22:00 on the opening day (Thursday, April 20) and closing day (Thursday, June 22); for all other events, the restriction period is from 18:00 to 22:00.

The police department and tourism office have jointly planned parking areas for cars, motorcycles, and large vehicles around the venue, as well as designated routes for each type of vehicle. Drivers are requested to park in order at the designated spots and walk to the venue. Designated car parking areas include the plaza in front of the county government, both sides of Fuguo Road, the underground parking lot of the county government, Zhongzheng Elementary School, and Wenguang Junior High School parking lots — the latter three offer free parking between 18:00 and 22:00 during the event. Motorcycle parking is available at the police department plaza, both sides of Minzu Road between Minsheng Road and Mingyuan Road, the one-way section of Jieshou Road from Guanyin Pavilion to Zhongzheng Hall, Shude Road, and the one-way side of Zhongzheng Road near Zhongzheng Elementary School. Large vehicle parking is located at docks 1, 6, 7, and 8 of Magong Harbor.
 
Visitors heading to the Guanyin Pavilion area to watch the show can enter through four exits: the main pathway next to Guanyin Pavilion, the basketball court staircase, the passage between the First Guesthouse and the Youth Activity Center, and the passage next to Penghu Maritime and Aquatic School. During the event, exit signs will be set up at the venue, and staff will be stationed to guide evacuations.
