Travel website reveals Taiwan's top 10 tourist hotspots — Amusement parks also make the list?

Taiwan is bordered by mountains and sea, and is rich in culture everywhere. Many attractions can be reached without spending too much time on transportation. However, in your opinion, what is the most enduring tourist attraction in Taiwan? Recently,DailyView Network Temperatureused the "KEYPO Big Data Key Engine" to select the top three attractions in each region of Taiwan from TripAdvisor, and then investigated the online discussion trends of these attractions, comprehensively ranking the top 10 most popular attractions in Taiwan. Let’s take a look at what they are!

1st Place: Alishan
It’s no surprise that Alishan claims the top spot. It offers sunrise views, sea of clouds, a ride on a high mountain train, and now the most popular cherry blossom viewing that attracts numerous tourists. The firefly season starting in April is expected to last until June. The naturally beautiful scenery in all four seasons keeps Alishan in an unrivaled position as a tourist destination.

2nd Place: Tamsui Scenic Area
Tamsui, the last stop on the metro line, besides the frequently visited old street, allows you to leisurely enjoy the riverside scenery of the Tamsui River. Historic sites such as Fort San Domingo, Hobe Fort, and the British Consulate are filled with historical and cultural charm, and a full day is needed for a complete visit. You can also take a ferry to explore Bali on the other side. How could tourists and netizens not love it?

3rd Place: Sun Moon Lake
The water scenery has always been very popular, and you won’t get enough even if you stay for two or three days. At Sun Moon Lake, you can cruise the lake and take the cable car to view the lake and mountain scenery from different angles. Each hour of the day brings a different kind of beauty. At Shuishe Pier, you can admire the sunrise and the reflection of the peaks on the water surface, with the morning mist lingering; as the sun sets and gradually sinks into the water, the scene is simply intoxicating.

4th Place: Daxi Old Street
At Daxi Old Street, you can see Japanese colonial-era imitation Baroque Western-style architecture. Yongfa Store and Songmao Tea House... are the most representative historic buildings, coupled with Chinese-style bat stone carvings, forming the unique charm of Daxi Old Street. There are many food stalls on the old street, and don’t forget to try Daxi’s most famous dried tofu and tofu pudding.

5th Place: Taroko
If you want to witness Taiwan’s spectacular natural wonders and experience the culture of the Taroko indigenous people, Taroko in the East Rift Valley is a must-visit. The “Heavenly Cliff” trail known as Zhuilu Old Trail announced that it will start charging fees from March 16, with a full ticket of NT$200 and a half-price ticket of NT$100 per person, making it the first paid attraction within Taroko National Park.

6th Place: Jiufen Old Street
The 1989 film "A City of Sadness" brought fame to Jiufen, and the trend has continued to this day. It’s no longer rare to see many Japanese tourists, and it has recently become a must-visit spot for Korean tourists. Zhushan Road is the most famous street in Jiufen Old Street, with steep stone steps, landscape restaurants standing tall, adorned with large red lanterns, creating the most beautiful night view!

7th Place: Shimen Reservoir
Shimen Reservoir is an important water source for northern Taiwan residents and is also a scenic destination that’s beautiful in all four seasons. In February, you can admire cherry blossoms; in March, azaleas; and starting in November, you can enjoy bald cypress and maple leaves. There are also many landscape cafes nearby. Visiting during holidays to ride a bicycle or take a stroll is quite relaxing.

8th Place: Fenqihu Old Town
Many people visiting Alishan also go to Fenqihu. It was once the largest station along the Alishan Forest Railway and still retains old-fashioned steam locomotives. Railway tracks and square bamboo are among its features, and don’t forget to try delicacies like washed love fruit and railway box lunches. Strolling along the streets, the classic nostalgic atmosphere seems to seal time in place.

No. 9: National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall
The vast grounds of the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall feature a main building with a striking sapphire-blue roof and white walls. The National Theater and National Concert Hall regularly host cultural performances. The changing of the guard ceremony by the honor guards of the three branches of the military is also a must-see attraction, making it a popular stop for both domestic and international visitors.

No. 10: Leofoo Village
Most Taiwanese are familiar with Leofoo Village Theme Park, which is divided into four themed zones: “Wild West,” “South Pacific,” “Arabian Royal Palace,” and “African Safari.” With a wide variety of rides suitable for all ages and regular promotional offers, it’s no surprise that the park has made it into the top ten in terms of online buzz.
