Taiwan’s First Official Apple Store Draws Tourists with Eye-Catching Red Paper-Cut Art Packaging

The much-anticipated Taiwan’s first official Apple Store has officially announced its location—at Taipei 101, on the right side of the Xinyi Road entrance. Apple CEO Tim Cook also wrote on Twitter, “Here comes Apple Taipei 101, our first store in Taiwan！有闲来坐!” echoing the currently under-construction large red paper-cut exterior decor created by Taiwanese paper-cutting artist Yang Shiyi. The massive design covers the entire construction site of the store, attracting both domestic and international tourists to stop and take photos, serving as a highly effective promotional strategy and generating buzz for the July 1 opening, which begins at 11:00 AM.

Apple’s official website also posted the following message to greet consumers in Taiwan:

This 75-meter-long, large-scale paper-cut piece was created and produced by renowned Taiwanese paper-cutting artist Yang Shiyi from Tainan and his team. It is conceptualized around the image of a big tree,along with motifs of human connection—hugs, sharing, innocence, and joy—filling the artwork. It conveys the warm message of “having a moment to sit” and, through this piece, encourageseveryone to remember the roots of happiness in life.
