The Bamboo-Woven Restaurant That Steals the Spotlight – A Hidden Local Delicacy in Nantou

The revitalization of old buildings has recently become a trend, with many cultural and creative parks and cafés transforming Taiwan’s historic homes into new spaces. Among them, the Zhuying Court Humanities Space in Zhushan, Nantou, revives the charm of an old railway station through bamboo weaving art. Using local bamboo weaving craftsmanship from Zhushan, 5,500 bamboo strips have been transformed into large-scale indoor spatial art. It also combines bamboo cuisine, bamboo weaving crafts, and cultural lectures, giving the old passenger station a fresh new look that has won over many visitors.

Zhuying Court Humanities Space has converted the second floor of the Taixi Bus Station, once a key transit hub in Zhushan, into a bamboo art complex. In addition to exhibition spaces for local bamboo crafts and cultural and creative merchandise, the dining options also adhere to the farm-to-table principle, offering visitors innovative concepts.

Zhushan was once a bustling small town surrounded by vast bamboo forests and experienced a glorious heyday. Later, as the bamboo industry declined and young people moved away, the once-important transit station was left abandoned for years. With the rise of cultural and creative trends in recent years, the development of composite spaces ranging from homestays to restaurants has given Zhushan the opportunity for a stunning transformation.
