New 2.6-km lakeside trail opens in Miaoli

After five years of construction, the 2.6-km Zaoqiao Datian (Longf Lake) Trail has officially opened, and the “Summer Stroll: A Walk Around Datian” event was held, attracting many locals to be among the first to experience the waterfront charm of the lakeside trail. Datian is close to National Freeway 1, the Dashan Interchange of National Freeway 3, and the Miaoli HSR Station, offering convenient transportation. Coupled with its picturesque lake and mountain scenery, it allows visitors to easily get close to the water and nature, and experience Miaoli’s natural landscapes and cultural charm.

The Datian Lake covers an area of 11 hectares. Parts of the lakeside area were overgrown with weeds in the past, affecting the landscape. The Miaoli Irrigation Association, which owns the lake, and the Chen brothers donated about 1 hectare of land free of charge. After five years of transformation, the area has been completely revitalized. The 2.6-km flat lakeside trail offers unobstructed views of the beautiful scenery.Nearby are the 300-year-old Bei Ji Temple, the 68-year-old Lingtian Zen Temple, and the 42-year-old Longhu Temple, all set in pleasant surroundings.

Miaoli County boasts beautiful mountains and clear waters, with stunning scenery — perfect for a weekend getaway to enjoy nature and relax your body and mind.
