New Choice for Cruise Enthusiasts: Explore Asia on Star Cruises’ SuperStar Aquarius & SuperStar Virgo

During the “SuperStar Gemini Welcome Ceremony” jointly held with the Keelung City Government and Taiwan International Ports Corporation, Star Cruises announced that this year its three ships—SuperStar Gemini, SuperStar Aquarius, and SuperStar Virgo—will be based in Keelung, providing travelers with more diverse options and helping advance the government’s goal of attracting 1.24 million cruise passengers to Taiwan.

Asian cruise tourism is booming, and Taiwan has become the second-largest cruise market in Asia. While the SuperStar Aquarius, which normally operates year-round, is undergoing refurbishment, the SuperStar Gemini will temporarily take its place, offering passengers a brand-new experience. The Gemini features five major itineraries and 12 sailings for 2018, departing from Keelung and visiting destinations such as Naha, Miyako Island, and Ishigaki Island in Japan. Meanwhile, the SuperStar Virgo will take passengers on six-day, five-night journeys to the Philippines and Japan between March and May this year.

The SuperStar Gemini has 766 cabins that can accommodate 1,532 passengers, with a total displacement of 50,764 tons. The ship offers a range of cabin types including ocean-view rooms, luxury suites, and executive suites to meet the needs of different travelers. Facilities onboard include Chinese, Asian, and international dining options, open-air barbecue, performance venues, karaoke, spa, health center, and a children’s play area, making it enjoyable for guests of all ages.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Star Cruises, which is part of the Genting Hong Kong group. It is dedicated to providing modern and top-tier luxurious cruise vacations. Currently, the fleet consists of six ships: SuperStar Virgo, SuperStar Gemini, SuperStar Aquarius, SuperStar Libra, SuperStar Pisces, and The Taipan. To offer an even more comfortable travel experience, Star Cruises is constructing two “Universe-class” cruise ships exceeding 200,000 tons, scheduled for launch in 2020 and 2021.
