Green River Riverside launches exclusive LOGO!, The Taichung City Government is promoting the “Revitalized Green River Riverside Corridor Project.” In addition to ongoing flood prevention, water quality improvement, and landscape construction efforts, it has also made a national first by applying for a “registered trademark” for the riverside, designing a unique brand for the Green River, and applying it to surrounding infrastructure and products to showcase the new value of the Green River. The first phase of the plan will feature the LOGO on manhole covers in underpasses, with a vintage brand visual that leaves a deep impression on visitors.

During the Japanese colonial period, the Green River riverside was beautifully picturesque, running through the bustling streets of Central District, rivaling Kyoto’s Kamo River in Japan, earning the reputation of a “Little Kyoto.” To revive its former glory, the city government is pushing forward with the Green River Riverside Corridor project. Through initiatives such as uncovering and renovating the river, box culvert flood prevention, diverting domestic sewage, and landscape enhancement, it aims to offer residents and visitors a waterside area rich in tourism, economic benefits, and historical stories. The project is expected to be successfully completed by next spring.

To further enhance the unique charm of the Green River, the Water Resources Bureau specially designed an exclusive riverside brand LOGO for the Green River, drawing inspiration from the cultural heritage of the old city center and evoking the nostalgic scenes of the Japanese colonial era. Visually, the design features a heron gazing across the earthen embankments on both sides while strolling beneath the trees, emphasizing a balance between urban development and natural ecology, and showcasing regionally distinctive cultural creativity.

As Taiwan’s first riverside to be registered as a trademark, the Green River will become a pioneering modern riverside brand, blending local tradition with modernity. It will convey this sense of place identity and imagination to residents and tourists alike, encouraging everyone to revisit the Green River and create lasting, beautiful memories.

The first phase of the plan will apply the LOGO to manhole covers along nearby pedestrian underpasses. In the future, informational sessions will be held to guide surrounding businesses in co-creating local revitalization through the Green River brand. These efforts will be combined with in-depth guided tours to promote Central District cuisine, industries, and historical culture, invigorating local development.
