The magnificent canyons and azure seas of eastern Taiwan are among the island’s proudest scenic wonders. Besides well-known spots like Sanxiantai and the Borland Boulevard, Taitung has many more breathtaking places worth visiting. Here are four paradise-like destinations in Taitung, with enchanting views that captivate the heart and make you want to return again and again, no matter how far they are.

1. Taitung Forest Park

Originally named Black Forest, Taitung Forest Park got its name because the entire area was planted with casuarina trees for windbreaks, giving the forest a dark appearance when viewed from afar.

The park features cycling paths that weave through the casuarina woods and connect three lakes: “Pipa Lake,” formed by an underground spring; “Egret Lake,” a former wetland that has been restored; and “Living Water Lake,” an artificial lake built for various water sports and triathlon events. Together with the casuarina forest, these three lakes form a complete estuarine and coastal wetland ecosystem rich in biodiversity.
