Not just memory gum, new topic: transparent milk tea, must-buy items for Japan travel

Following the recent buzz in Japan over memory-enhancing gum, Japanese beverage company Suntory has recently launched “transparent milk tea.” It looks just like a bottle of mineral water from the outside, but once opened, it gives off a strong milk tea aroma, and many are amazed that it actually tastes like real milk tea.

“Transparent Milk Tea” is the second attention-grabbing product released by Suntory in Japan, following the April launch of the popular “Natural Water PREMIUM MORNING TEA Transparent Lemon Tea.” This time, they’ve introduced another new item. The transparent milk tea is made by extracting Assam tea leaves along with lactose and whey from milk, using a special process to create a flavored yet colorless natural water milk tea.

Transparent Milk Tea does indeed contain milk, though it’s not evident from the appearance, and it still contains calories. This new product can be purchased at Japanese convenience stores, supermarkets, and drugstores for 131 Japanese yen (tax excluded). Travelers planning a trip to Japan soon might want to give it a try.
