Confirmed to launch in Taiwan: The Michelin Guide to Taipei publication news

Known as the "bible" of the culinary world, the Michelin "Red Guide" is finally coming to Taiwan. Recently, the official Michelin organization also officially announced that it will hold a "2018 Taipei Michelin Guide Press Conference Announcement" in Taipei, and provide details regarding the publication of the 2018 Taipei Michelin Guide. This marks another shining moment for the Michelin star spotlight on Taiwan, following the publication of the Green Guide in 2011. In 2018, the long-awaited Taipei Michelin Guide is expected to be unveiled on November 6.

As for which restaurants will make the list, there has been much speculation, including renowned eateries such as Din Tai Fung, RAW, and L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon. However, Michelin has maintained its usual low profile and declined to comment. Since the establishment of its star-rating system in 1926, it has never disclosed the evaluation criteria or scoring standards used by its anonymous inspectors. The guide emphasizes five key commitments: anonymous reviews, careful selection, reader-focused evaluations, annual updates, and consistent global standards.

In light of the rise of Asian dining trends, the Michelin Guide has expanded into Asia since 2007. Currently, the regularly published guides include the Hong Kong and Macau Michelin Guide, Tokyo Michelin Guide, Kyoto Osaka Michelin Guide, Singapore Michelin Guide, Seoul Michelin Guide, and Shanghai Michelin Guide. The first edition of the Bangkok Michelin Guide will also be officially released at the end of 2017. The 2018 Taipei Michelin Guide is expected to be published in the spring of 2018.
