Guinness World Record Broken！9-Hour Rainbow Amazes Even Foreigners

On November 30, a rainbow appeared over the campus of Chinese Culture University and remained in the sky for a full 9 hours — an extremely rare sight that broke the previous world record of 6 hours set in the UK in 1994, attracting attention from major foreign media. Professors from the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at Chinese Culture University are also collecting 36,000 photos of the rainbow to prove observational continuity and challenge the Guinness World Record.

The rainbow that appeared over Taipei on November 30 started at 6:57 AM and gradually faded away by 3:55 PM, lasting 8 hours and 58 minutes. It not only amazed locals but also caught the attention of British media.

Associate Professor Chou Kun-hsien from the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at Chinese Culture University invites everyone to join in the effort to collect 36,000 photos to prove observational continuity. Once the relevant observation report is completed, it will be submitted to the Taipei City Council, and an application will be made to challenge the Guinness World Record, letting the world see Taiwan’s longest rainbow.
