A New Holiday Destination: A Colorful Riverside Flower Sea Rivaling European Gardens

No need to fly abroad to admire flowers — you can enjoy vibrant blooms rivaling those of the Netherlands’ Keukenhof Garden right in Taipei. The Water Resources Bureau has created a large expanse of beautiful flower fields beneath the green space under the overpass platform in the Hakka area of Guting Riverside Park, making it a new holiday attraction in Taipei. The floral display will span the Christmas and New Year holidays and continue until mid-January next year.

Guting Riverside Park was originally adorned with many romantic and exotic art installations that attracted many couples to take wedding photos there. This flower sea design continues that joyful atmosphere, using various winter seasonal flowers such as cosmos, scarlet sage, purple salvia, begonias, and pink-flowered sage. Over 80,000 pots of warm-toned and vividly contrasting seasonal blooms are used to outline a heart-shaped motif, aiming to offer visitors the warmest blessings. The total area of the Guting flower sea spans 2,200 square meters.

Notably, this year also features windmills as part of the Guting flower sea display. The windmills spinning in the breeze on the adjacent green space are highly eye-catching, adding a dynamic touch to the otherwise serene flower sea. This summer, Chengmei Riverside Park used nearly 1,400 windmills to form the phrases “DO U LOVE ME” and “YES I DO.” After the Chengmei flower season ended, to make better use of the leftover windmills, they were recycled and relocated to Guting Riverside Park for reuse, extending the emotional impact once brought by the windmills.
