Limited-edition and point-collectible products offered by convenience stores often become hot topics and have become one of the must-visit and must-collect local souvenirs for travelers worldwide. In Taiwan, FamilyMart has not only sparked discussions with point-collection activities like those featuring Sticky Monster Lab magnets, but has also launched a magnet point-redemption promotion for Hobotopia, the king of gashapon popularity. A total of 10 magnet designs are available, each limited to 20,000 pieces, igniting a collecting frenzy.

The first wave of five Hobotopia magnets (Polar Bear, Snow Wolf, Reindeer, Tiger, Whale) was launched on December 20, followed by the next five (Lion, Orca, Koala, Panda, Buffalo) on January 3, 2018. The redemption method is to purchase any two specified drinks or instant beverages priced over NT$18, then pay an additional NT$79 to get one exclusive magnet figurine. The limited and phased release has not only drawn attention from gashapon enthusiasts but also attracted more consumers to join the collection trend.

Hobotopia has been highly popular among fans since its launch in Japan, and many Taiwanese tourists also collect them during their trips there. Now they can also be found in Taiwan’s gashapon machines. In the summer of 2017, Hobotopia launched its third series, featuring polar animals, which once again ignited a collecting craze. This time, FamilyMart’s Hobotopia magnet series brings together animal characters from all three series. Fans of Hobotopia should seize the opportunity to complete their collections.

In addition, FamilyMart has also launched a point-collection campaign for SML Sticky Monster Lab (Sticky Monster Lab), a design brand from South Korea. This much-talked-about Asian creative team often collaborates with Korean convenience store GS25 to release beverage promotions that spark collection frenzies. It's also a brand that many people specifically seek out for merchandise when visiting Korea. This time, Taiwanese convenience stores are also offering a point-collection collaboration featuring this brand. For details on how to collect, please see below—those interested should act fast.
