The Japanese Chinese cuisine chain "Dumpling King" opened its first Taiwan store in Kaohsiung on April 20. On the opening day, a large crowd lined up to be the first to taste the food, with over "1,000 servings" of dumplings sold on the first day alone. It’s believed that many will still rush to try it in the short term, but if you don’t want to wait in line, you might want to come back after the initial rush dies down.

As Taiwan’s first store, the Hanshin Dome Kaohsiung branch adopts the concept of "Cool Japan" for its design. The store highlights dumplings, which have become a national dish in Japan, and aims to have the public embrace the store as a Japanese dining experience. The restaurant style is deliberately designed to emphasize a Japanese image. Additionally, the cooking area is set in the center of the store, with a glass partition separating the cooking zone from customer seating, creating an open kitchen. Finally, counter seating surrounds the cooking area.

To maintain the same quality as in Japan, the flour used for making dumpling wrappers and noodles at Dumpling King’s first Taiwan store is imported from Hokkaido, Japan. It is produced at a dedicated factory in Pingtung, then transported to the store, where it undergoes the final cooking stage before being served to customers. Besides dumplings, Tianjin Rice is also a signature dish, featuring an egg fried rice topped with a savory sauce—a truly unique offering.
