Losing your luggage is truly a miserable experience. When you arrive at the airport only to find your bags aren’t on the carousel, you end up spending the next few hours making phone calls and dealing with service desks. This frustrating situation is now being actively addressed by an airline.As reported by the well-known travel website Condé Nast, Qatar Airways has announced that it will track the status of every single piece of passengers’ luggage.

According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the organization that promotes aviation industry standards, in 2016 it released initiatives to help reduce unnecessary baggage loss and theft. The association believes that by 2020, such incidents will be reduced by 25%, a figure that could save airlines up to $3 billion.

Qatar Airways’ “Track My Baggage” app allows passengers to stay informed about the status of their checked luggage at all times. Whether you’re boarding your flight or even during a layover, you can check where your bags are.If anything goes wrong along the way, passengers will be alerted in advance and can directly report the issue to the airline for early resolution. However, this service is currently only available at Hamad Airport in Doha.

Qatar Airways has recently introduced several exciting new policies, such as the launch of business class suites with double beds in June this year.
