It’s that light of hope—the Taitung beach walk to “greet the first sunrise”! Watching it rise is truly breathtaking.

The Taiwu Township New Year’s Eve First Sunrise event gained fame back in 2000 when the first-ever such celebration attracted tens of thousands of visitors. Since then, the Millennium “First Sunrise Memorial Park” has become a must-visit attraction. Visitors can stand under the pavilion in the Millennium Sunrise Park or walk along the beach to watch the sunrise over the Pacific, taking in the vast ocean. With the gentle sea breeze blowing, it’s a supreme experience to feel the harmony between the mountains, the sea, and people.

To encourage campers to visit Taiwu Township, the first 300 tents pitched in the Millennium Memorial Park before December 31, 2012, will receive a discount coupon worth NT$00 upon registration at the service desk during the event. Local agricultural specialties, traditional Aboriginal cuisine, and handmade Aboriginal crafts will also be on sale. This New Year’s Eve celebration and First Sunrise event combine the area’s rich cultural heritage, offering visitors a deeper experience of local traditions and creating new tourism appeal.
