The Star Hotels 1+1 series of events aims to help promote the travel accommodation industry, with this edition highlighting accommodation stars and a sharp, popular online vote. Currently, 48 teams in the hotel category and 52 teams in the homestay category have registered, totaling 100 teams competing in the superstar selection. From homestay owners and butlers, to welcoming pets, even service staff from various departments such as dining, leisure, and public relations in hotels and resorts are vying for a spot on the star list. Highlights include a passionate young publicist from Hotel Royal Chiaohsi riding a hot air balloon to embrace dreams, a son from Guanxingyuan Homestay entering to support his squirrel-catching dad, the incredibly cute mascot cat Bengqiu from Little Wulai Mountain Resort, and Chen Long, an Atayal service staff member at Shan Yue Village who resembles a celebrity and performs live singing — all showcasing Taiwan’s warm hospitality and cultural charm.

The sharp and popular online vote runs from now until 6:00 PM on February 18. The final selection will be based on a combination of public online votes, Star News Reporters’ input, and bonus points from Star Hotels, with plans to select the top 50 groups to enter the expert review stage. To encourage friends and family to cheer online, six major themed awards under the “Sharp and Popular” campaign are introduced, including: Gorgeous Girls, Handsome Guys, Creative Team Chants, Cuties, Fashionable Looks, and Super Groups — all showcasing the creativity of accommodation stars and the vibrant enthusiasm of Taiwan’s tourism.

The public can participate in the online vote or the Sharp and Popular Themed Awards for a chance to win over 70 great prizes, including sleek tablets, accommodation vouchers from star-rated hotels, vouchers from Ruorong Humanistic Inn, dream afternoon tea vouchers from star-rated hotels, and onsen vouchers. The total value of the prizes is 200,000 TWD. The more you vote, the higher your chances of winning.

In March, the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications will invite a professional judging panel to review the submissions. It is expected that 20–30 travel accommodation superstars will be selected from both the hotel and homestay categories. These Star Hotels superstars will serve as tourism ambassadors for Taiwan’s travel accommodation services. Additionally, two accommodation superstars will be prioritized for overseas training in tourism excellence. The accommodations where the winners work will be prioritized for recommendation to domestic and international tourists on the Taiwan Travel Accommodation Network by the Tourism Bureau, allowing travelers from around the world to enjoy high-quality services in Taiwan.
