Bikinis in -30°C? Germans create a tropical paradise in freezing cold

For those of us who grew up in Taiwan’s spring-like climate all year round, it might be hard to imagine the feeling of bitter winter chill so severe that you just want to dive headfirst into tropical waters.

Germany, with its generally low average temperatures, has to endure the frigid ice and snow every winter. Some choose to travel to tropical countries, flying to warmer nations to bask in the sunshine. But nowadays, Germans have an alternative option: visiting the Tropical Islands amusement park. There, they can shed their heavy coats and fully enjoy the constant tropical warmth within the park.

Located about 60 kilometers from the capital Berlin, the Tropical Islands park covers an area of approximately 7.65 hectares—equivalent to eight football fields. Its most distinctive feature is the year-round indoor temperature maintained at 26 degrees Celsius. It offers large water slides and even brings a realistic tropical rainforest into the park. Visitors can choose to stay overnight, explore the rainforest, and camp under the stars. This park allows guests to forget the freezing world outside and immerse themselves completely in a dreamy realm full of endless fun.
