How many vacation days a year is enough? Hotels.com, a global online hotel booking website, surveyed the number of holiday days in 30 countries, and the results revealed huge differences around the world. The country with the most national holidays and statutory annual leave is “Russia,” with a total of up to 40 days; Mexico has only 13 days, ranking last.

A total of 30 countries participated in the Hotels.com survey, with an average total of 28 days combining annual leave and public holidays. People in Taiwan have a combined total of 19 days, which is below this average. Italy and Sweden closely follow Russia with a total of 36 days of holidays, while Canada and Mexico bring up the rear with 15 and 13 days respectively. However, when it comes to the number of national holidays, Argentina leads the world with 19 days, including the grand carnival held on February 11 and 12 each year. Colombia has 18 national holidays, including Dia de San Jose' on March 19. At the bottom of the list, Brazil, Canada, and India have only 5 national holidays.
