2013 Kenting Music Festival Kicks Off – Bikini Babes Bring in Over 200,000 Partygoers

The annual Southern Taiwan highlight, the Kenting Spring Music Festival, kicked off on April 3 and ran through April 7. This year, with a four-day holiday, it’s estimated that around 200,000 music fans will flock to Kenting. Organizers are urging the public to use public transportation as much as possible. Bus companies including Kuo-Kuang, Ubus, Arcoa, Ho-Hsin, and Gaokan have all launched discounted transit packages. The Kenting Shuttle Bus provides transportation between major scenic spots in the area. During the five-day event from April 3, organizers are also offering shuttle buses between Fuhua – Eluanbi and Kenting Archway – Hengchun Airport to transport attendees to and from event venues.

This year’s Kenting Spring Music Festival features eight outdoor concerts

Spring Scream　Location: Eluanbi Lighthouse Park & Southernmost Camping Area, April 4, 5, and 6. Featuring 200 bands from around the world, with 6 to 8 official stages for performances

Spring Wave Music　Location: Hengchun Airport, April 5 and 6. Main stage – 4:00 PM; EDM – 10:30 PM

Crazy Nanwan Bubble Party　Nanwan Beach, April 4, 5, and 6

In conjunction with the music festival, Pingtung Bus has launched a new Kenting Shuttle Bus Blue Line. The route has been changed from the original “Hengchun–Houbihhu–Maobitou” to “Hengchun–Longshui–Hongchai Pit–Baisha–Maobitou–Houbihhu–Nanwan–Kenting.” This includes Baisha Bay and allows direct access to Kenting Street without needing to transfer back at the Hengchun bus terminal. Those who purchase the high-speed rail “Kenting Express” combo ticket or the “Kaohsiung–Kenting Good Travel Package” (available at 7-ELEVEN ibon nationwide) can ride the Kenting Shuttle Bus unlimited times.

Police will continue strict enforcement against drugs this year, as well as measures against drunk driving and fatigued driving, along with cracking down on modified vehicles and unlicensed supercars. Environmental units have set up recycling stations and bins at Kenting Street and at the “Spring Scream” and “Spring Wave” music festival venues.
