Haven’t had a chance to plan your trip this year? The 2013 “7th Taipei International Spring Travel Exhibition” kicks off today and runs until the 29th at Hall 1 of the Taipei World Trade Center. According to statistics from the Tourism Bureau under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the number of visitors to Taiwan in 2012 exceeded 7 million for the first time, an increase of about 20% compared to the previous year, while the number of Taiwanese traveling abroad reached 10.24 million, up 6.8% from 2011. This shows that the booming travel market is definitely driven by people’s needs. The tourism industry not only creates huge economic value but, more importantly, travel has become an essential spiritual necessity in life.

During the exhibition period, various operators are offering attractive deals. Japan, a favorite destination among Taiwanese travelers that’s great to visit all year round, is offering early-bird discounts for Hokkaido trips, with the second person saving up to NT$4,000 due to fluctuations in the yen exchange rate. Round-trip flights to Hong Kong are originally priced at NT$6,900 but are on special for NT$3,999; the 5-day “White Dragon King Lucky & Wealthy Thailand Tour” is originally NT$16,800 but on sale for NT$9,900. For those who love in-depth travel experiences, food, art, and culture, the “Romantic Deep Dive: Beloved Prague 10-Day Trip” is originally priced from NT$72,500, now on special for NT$66,900. Traveling before summer can save you several thousand dollars.

Domestic travel packages are also being offered with discounts starting from 30% off and more. Farm stay packages feature buy 5 nights, get 1 free; theme park tickets originally priced at NT$799 are on special for NT$499; stress-relieving hot spring packages start from 1.7% off, and there are discounts for visiting Taiwan’s only essential oil museum.
