A maze that even Napoleon got lost in—dare you take on the challenge?

In Greek mythology, King Minos designed the world's first maze to imprison the half-man, half-bull Minotaur. The original purpose of the maze was to disorient people and trap them inside. If you had the chance to enter the most complex maze in the world, would you have the confidence to find your way out?

At Villa Pisani on the outskirts of Venice, there is a world-famous garden maze. Built in the early 18th century, the maze consists of twelve concentric circles. Once inside, towering hedges completely block your view, leaving only the small tower in the center of the maze visible.

The tower attendant will guide lost visitors in the right direction. If you’re one of them, don’t be too upset—Napoleon also got stuck here once too. Later, when Hitler and Mussolini met at the villa, neither was willing to enter the garden maze, fearing they’d suffer the same humiliation as Napoleon.

If you’re visiting Venice, make sure to check out this garden maze. But keep an eye on the kids—one wrong move and they might wander off, and you could end up spending a lot of effort trying to find them again.
