Hsinchu County’s “FUN in Summer” Kicks Off with Enthusiasm – Wen Lan Recommends Smangus Tribal Tourism

Summer vacation is here！ This year, the Hsinchu County Government is offering a summer like no other by leveraging the area’s unique mountain, sea, and lake features. A series of exciting activities have been launched, including Science Education Month, Indigenous Music Concerts, and the Crescent Beach Music Festival — all healthy and fun. On the 26th, Hsinchu County Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun appeared at the press conference dressed in a stylish beach outfit, transforming into a beach cool dude, and together with Wen Lan, the event ambassador for Jianshi Township in Hsinchu County, they kicked off the “Hsinchu County FUN in Summer” activities.

Wen Lan, an indigenous singer and native daughter of Jianshi Township in Hsinchu, is endorsing county tourism for the first time. As the ambassador for the “Hsinchu County FUN in Summer” campaign, she strongly recommends tribal tourism in Smangus, Jianshi Township. Surrounded by beautiful mountains and refreshed by phytoncides, visitors can escape the hustle and bustle of city life. The area is also known for its sweet and juicy peaches, a local specialty of Hsinchu.

The events will take place throughout July and August. Among them, the “Mayday Charity Concert” on July 5th is highly anticipated by fans. Performing artists include Mayday, Yen-j, Bai An, and Jia Jia. The event is free and open to the public, with a rock zone that accommodates 5,000 people. Numbered tickets will be distributed starting at 2 PM on the day of the event.

In addition, there’s the “2013 Zhubei Crescent Beach Ocean Music Carnival.” During the day, activities include eco-friendly beach clean-ups, fish fry releases, sailing experiences, and parent-child sand sculpture competitions. In the evening, the Crescent Beach Ocean Music Awards will feature performances by artists such as Chang Hsiu-ching, Power Station, Universe, POPU LADY, and Da Mouth.

A series of lively events are on the schedule, including traditional folk festivals that showcase Hakka Yimin spirit, such as the Ritual to Summon Deities, Lantern Pole Raising, Water Lantern Processions, Ghost Festival, and Heavyweight Native Pig Competitions. Other highlights include the opening ceremony of the “Yimin Hakka Carnival,” the “Hakka Song” evening gala for the Yimin Festival, and a creative native pig competition installation exhibit.
