Surreal Illusion Art: Giant Butterfly Specimen Creations

Butterfly specimens as tall as buildings—how terrifying is that? If they were flying, they’d be super monsters... But these butterflies adorned with beautiful patterns are actually the works of French artist Mantra. With hyper-realistic painting skills and boundless creativity, the exterior walls seem to be teeming with life, incredibly lifelike.

Upon closer inspection, they are as detailed and exquisite as real butterfly specimens. This exhibition piece was displayed at this year’s International Urban Art Festival, with each creation taking multiple days to complete in order to achieve such a perfect effect.

Every detail, from the patterns to the shadows, is also stunningly beautiful and remarkably lifelike.

The International Urban Art Festival has been held annually in the Spanish city of Zaragoza since 2005, gathering numerous outstanding large-scale artworks, many of which are breathtakingly beautiful.

Blending nature and the urban landscape, the festival adds vibrancy to the otherwise dull city, and there are also many colorful and adorable creations that help people rediscover their childlike wonder in daily life.
