Domestic flight tickets to rise next year; Taipei–Kinmen route sees highest increase of 20%

Price hikes on the way again！ The Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) announced on the 16th that domestic flight ticket prices were originally scheduled to increase for the general public starting October 1, and for residents of outlying islands starting January 1 of next year. However, considering operational convenience, it has been decided that the price hike will apply to all without distinction, taking effect uniformly on January 1 of next year, with increases ranging from 5% to 20%.

The CAA stated that for outlying island routes, it was originally decided to apply the same fare for both tourists and outlying island residents, but the government will increase fare subsidies for outlying island residents; actual calculations showed that,the Taipei–Kinmen route will see the highest increase of 20%,Taipei–Hualien will increase by about 10%, while Kaohsiung–Makung and Makung–Kinmen will see a 5% increase.

As for the new fares taking effect on January 1 next year, the CAA said they will be implemented through “sequential approval and phased execution.” Routes with smaller increases will adjust all at once, while those with larger increases will be adjusted in three phases over the course of a year.
