Keelung Ghost Festival / Dragon and Lion Dance Performers “Take a Tumble” – Kind Spectators Urged Them to Take a Break

This year’s Keelung Ghost Festival grand parade proceeded vibrantly in Keelung City undeterred by Typhoon Trami. The procession, led by the Xie family as the main ceremonial clan, toured the city alongside other clan associations. Among them, the dragon and lion dance troupe featured what is claimed to be Taiwan’s youngest lion dancer, around 5 years old. This pint-sized performer was absolutely adorable and won over the crowd.

Another highlight of the dragon and lion dance performances was the “stilt lion dance.” The impressive stunts drew cheers from the audience, but just as spectators were applauding enthusiastically, the stilt lion suddenly fell down in an unfortunate “faceplant.” Thankfully, kind-hearted onlookers urged the performer to take a seat and rest.
