Anping Commercial Port’s Inner Harbor to Develop Taiwan’s Largest Integrated Yacht Marina, Set to Complete in 2020

Tainan City’s Anping District recently announced the launch of canal yacht tours, and will now develop another waterfront leisure hub. On the 21st, the Taiwan International Ports Corporation signed a cooperation agreement with a yacht leasing company at the Yonghua Municipal Government Center. Within four years, a yacht marina will be built inside Anping Commercial Port, including a resort hotel, a maritime school, and a themed shopping mall. Upon completion, it will be Taiwan’s largest integrated water and land-based yacht harbor district.

This project, Taiwan’s largest integrated water and land-based yacht harbor, was initially conceived and facilitated by the Tainan City Government. After former Minister of Transportation and Communications Yeh Chen-tan inspected the site, the decision was made to move forward. The development site is located on the east bank south of Yuguang Bridge, originally within the port area owned by the Taiwan International Ports Corporation. The first phase will develop 12.7 hectares of water and land areas, with Agora Yacht Leasing Company investing NT$2 billion to secure a 50-year operating right.

The Taiwan International Ports Corporation and the operator held a cooperation signing ceremony on the 21st, with Tainan City Acting Mayor Li Meng-yan and officials in attendance to witness the event. They pledged to prioritize this major investment project and fully support administrative efforts, looking forward to breaking down barriers and achieving the prosperity of an integrated city-port model.

Taiwan International Ports Corporation General Manager Kuo Tien-kuei mentioned that the development project is divided into four phases, with the first phase signed today. Phases 2, 3, and 4 will subsequently integrate a cruise terminal, waterfront tourism, and resort development at Crescent Bay, with total investment exceeding NT$10 billion. The entire project is expected to be completed in five years.

The Anping Commercial Port’s inner harbor, previously unused and abandoned, is set to be transformed by the operator into a yacht marina with 150 berths. The surrounding land will host a resort hotel operated by a Singaporean group, along with a themed shopping mall and a maritime school offering courses such as boat handling.

The operator plans to build a 500-meter recreational promenade along the shore for public strolls. The development is expected to generate 1,500 job opportunities and benefit local residents.

This harbor area plan involves both water and land components. The first phase is expected to be completed in three years, and will become Taiwan’s premier aquatic recreation and leisure hub.
