The inner harbor of Anping Fishing Port will be developed into Taiwan’s largest comprehensive marina, set to be completed in 2020

Water recreation projects in Anping District, Tainan City, are coming one after another. Canal yacht tours were recently launched, and on the 21st, Taiwan International Ports Corporation signed a cooperation agreement with a yacht rental company at Yonghua City Hall to build a marina in the inner harbor of Anping Fishing Port. The project will include a resort hotel, a maritime school, and a theme mall. Once completed, it will be Taiwan’s largest integrated water and land marina complex.

This largest integrated water and land marina project in Taiwan was initially conceived and facilitated by Tainan City Government. After former Minister of Transportation and Communications Yeh Chen-daw inspected the site, the decision was made to proceed. The development site is located on the east bank south of Yuguang Bridge, originally part of the port area owned by Taiwan International Ports Corporation, covering a total of 12.7 hectares of water and land. Recently, Agora Yacht Leasing Company invested NT$2 billion to secure a 50-year operating right.

Taiwan International Ports Corporation and the company held a cooperation signing ceremony on the 21st, attended by Tainan City Acting Mayor Li Meng-yan and other officials to witness the completion of the agreement. The local community looks forward to the prosperity following the development and hopes construction will begin soon.

The previously abandoned inner harbor of Anping Fishing Port is expected to be transformed by the company into a marina with 150 berths. Surrounding land will host a resort hotel operated by a Singaporean group, along with a theme mall and a maritime school that will offer courses such as boat handling. The development is estimated to create 1,500 new jobs.

This NT$2 billion port area project involves both water and land components and is expected to be completed in three years, driving more water-based recreational activities. The area is expected to become a popular destination for yacht enthusiasts. The company plans to build a 500-meter recreational walkway along the shore, allowing the public to stroll by the harbor and providing benefits to local residents.
