Combining recreation and weddings, The Garden of Eden creates a romantic and blissful estate in central Taiwan

Located on the hills of Daking in Taichung, The Garden of Eden stands out with its fairytale-like European castles and romantically charged scenery. In recent years, besides attracting couples and tourists who come to soak in the estate’s blissful ambiance, it has also become a favorite spot for many newlyweds to shoot their wedding photos or hold their ceremonies.

Founders of Lavender Cottage, Chan Hui-chun and Lin Ting-fei, noticed that more and more young people were drawn to romantic weddings and often chose Lavender Cottage as their wedding venue. However, due to Lavender Cottage’s deep mountain location, it was inconvenient for guests attending the weddings. Sothe two women personally created The Garden of Eden at the end of 2009, a place filled with the charm of a Southern European countryside — and Taiwan’s first attraction that combines recreation and weddings. The name “The Garden of Eden Moncoeur” comes from the combination of the French words “mon” (my) and “coeur” (heart).

The Garden of Eden is divided into a “Dating Area” and a “Celebration Area.” The Celebration Area is mainly used for weddings and is closed to the public on regular days, so visitors usually only get to explore and take photos in the Dating Area. Within the Dating Area, there are five main buildings: The Herb Shop, Kiss My Home, Paper King, Forest Music Box, and March’e Market. Among them, Kiss My Home is the theme restaurant of the estate, designed around the concept of “home,” featuring numerous hand-drawn artworks. It later became the Couples-Only Pavilion, a spot especially loved by couples visiting the estate.

Besides “Kiss My Home,” there is also the European-style “Petite Provence” restaurant. Its exterior is covered with mottled purple walls, while the interior is adorned with yellow walls and green lattice windows, creating a cheerful and not overly romantic atmosphere. The main dishes here include pasta and risotto, and drinks can be customized for unlimited refills. Though it doesn’t have the intense romantic vibe of Kiss My Home, it feels warm and cozy — an ideal place for gatherings with friends or family.

Recently, The Garden of Eden launched the “Love Has Artistic Flair This Summer” series of cultural and artistic events, held in the normally closed Celebration Area. Visitors should seize the opportunity to attend. During weekdays, photography and illustration art exhibitions can be seen, while weekends feature additional activities such as open-air movie screenings, handmade wedding markets, and concerts. This allows visitors to experience romance and happiness in the Dating Area, then head over to the Celebration Area — with its vast green lawns and white architecture — to enjoy a touch of artistic inspiration.
