The generous portion of salted fish and char siu fried rice at this Taipei roast meat shop is just perfect for two girls!

Located on Liaoning Street, Longten Roast Meats — we came here in March and tried their dry-fried beef chow fun, which really hit the spot for old K, so we came back to try the fried rice recommended by netizens.

We ordered the salted fish and char siu fried rice. It felt a bit odd not ordering any roast meats at a roast meat shop, so we also added a roasted chicken leg.

Salted fish and char siu fried rice (NT$120), roasted chicken leg à la carte (NT$70). We’d previously had their dry-fried beef chow fun and found the portion quite generous, but we didn’t expect the fried rice portion to be even bigger. Judging by the size of that roasted chicken leg, you can tell the fried rice comes in a huge plate — two girls could definitely share one and be full, XD.

Hong Kong-style fried rice usually includes iceberg lettuce, and the portion of char siu was pretty decent. The rice grains were also nicely separated.

The egg fragrance combined with the char siu aroma was really tasty. The salted fish came in small chunks, and where you got a piece, it added a savory fishy flavor, making the taste quite rich overall. Although there was quite a bit of iceberg lettuce, the fried rice wasn’t soggy at all — the stir-frying technique was really good. It’s delicious fried rice, though slightly oily. Paired with an iced lemon tea, it would be perfect, XD.

The roasted chicken leg was just okay — not particularly tender, but not too tough either.

Little reminders from K:If we’re talking about roast meats, this place is just an average roast meat shop. But when it comes to fried rice and chow fun, their standard shoots up several notches, XD. Plus, the portions are huge. If you’re a fan of fried rice or chow fun, I highly recommend giving this place a try!
