Typhoon Usagi moving away; Rubber Duck expected to "make a comeback" on the afternoon of the 22nd

Typhoon Usagi is expected to have its land typhoon warning lifted this (22nd) morning. Once the warning is successfully lifted, the Rubber Duck is also expected to undergo onshore inflation at 1 PM tomorrow before being hoisted into the waters of Glory Pier, resuming normal display.

The Rubber Duck, which has charmed all of Taiwan, attracted 200,000 visitors on its first day of display in Kaohsiung, all eager to catch a glimpse of its adorable form. On the second day of the exhibition, Typhoon Usagi interfered, and the duck was temporarily deflated and secured with canvas on the shore of Glory Pier.

Kaohsiung City Government Information Bureau Director Lai Rui-long stated that once the Typhoon Usagi warning is successfully lifted, the Rubber Duck will resume normal display on the last afternoon of the Mid-Autumn holiday. The duck is scheduled for onshore inflation at 1 PM and will be hoisted into the waters of Glory Pier using a large crane. Including the connection of undersea cables and securing the floating platform, the operation is estimated to take about 2 to 3 hours. Official Rubber Duck merchandise will go on sale at 4 PM.

Lai Rui-long suggested that both Glory Pier and True Love Pier are excellent spots for photographing the duck. For those wishing to view the duck from different angles, they can take a harbor cruise or the Love Boat for a water-based duck-viewing trip, or head to nearby hotel buildings to enjoy an elevated view of the duck gliding through the harbor.
