Taiwan is the “culprit” behind this “poop” concept restaurant — the first toilet-themed eatery in the U.S. opens in L.A.

Last year, Taiwan’s toilet-themed restaurant was named the world’s weirdest by CNN. This year, it’s back in the spotlight as the first-ever toilet-themed restaurant in the U.S. — Magic Restroom Cafe — opened on the 18th in Los Angeles. The toilet concept was inspired by Taiwan’s famous MARTON Theme Museum.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the owner of Magic Restroom Cafe in the U.S. is Chinese, and the head chef is Taiwanese with nearly 30 years of experience. First-time restaurateur YoYo Li said she had known about Taiwan’s toilet-themed restaurant before because of its success, which inspired her to follow suit.

Magic Restroom Cafe offers two “signature poop dishes”: Magical Curry Rice and another one with ground beef rice. In addition, the seating consists of a row of toilets, and the menu includes “Black Poop” chocolate sundaes and “poop-scented” braised pork rice. Even the serving containers are miniature ceramic toilets.

Apart from curry, chocolate, and other “poop”-related themed dishes, the restaurant also serves Taiwanese favorites such as braised pork rice, stinky tofu, oyster omelet, and red-braised beef noodles. With a Taiwanese head chef boasting nearly 30 years of experience, it gives Americans an opportunity to enjoy authentic Taiwanese cuisine from the other side of the globe.
