Hengchun Folk Music Festival: Relive Classic Folk Tunes Starting the 26th

The 2013 Hengchun Folk Music Festival will take place from the 26th to November 3rd on the Hengchun Peninsula. It will feature performances by Taiwanese Golden Melody Award-winning artist Xie Ming-yi (谢铭祐), the Seahorse Band, and many local performance groups. Additionally, there will be folk singing competitions on the 1st and 2nd, encouraging participants and performers to make friends through song and get to know Hengchun through its music.

Performances kick off on the 26th and 27th. On the 26th, the Hengchun leg of the festival will open with a performance by the Seahorse Band at Hengchun West Gate Square, joined by performers such as Zhou Dingbang and Hou Shan Long Ge. On the 27th, in Pingtung, Golden Melody Award-winning artist Xie Ming-yi will take the stage at Pingtung Arena for a “golden” vocal performance.

This year marks the 6th edition of the Hengchun Folk Music Festival, which has become a unique tourism event on the Hengchun Peninsula. To help more visitors discover Hengchun’s folk music, the Hengchun Folk Music Museum is hosting a year-round folk music exhibition, offering a chance to revisit classic tunes such as “Thoughts Arise” (思想起) and “Fenggang Melody” (枫港小调).
