The 2014 Kaohsiung Lantern Festival will not have its main light display area at Glory Pier. Instead, it will expand the exhibition range to create the widest street light decoration area in the festival’s history, running from January 28 to February 23 next year, along with fireworks and celebrity performances.

Key areas for the street light displays include: Wufu Road in Xinxing District from Fuxing Road Section to Hero Road near the National Army Hero Hotel, extending to Glory Pier, as well as Zhongshan Road between Minsheng Road and Sanduo Road. Major illuminated streets will cover Minsheng Road, Chenggong Road, Xinguang Road, Zhongshan Road up to Wufu Road by Love River, and Central Park. Additionally, Sanduo Shopping District will feature decorative light bridges, while both banks of Love River will be designated as lantern zones and street performance areas.

Although the upcoming Kaohsiung Lantern Festival will expand activities such as street light displays and parades, events like fireworks and performances by entertainers will be significantly scaled down, with fireworks limited mainly to the opening and closing ceremonies.
