The Taoyuan Land Art Festival Awakens Hometown Memories – A Fanjiang Family Wedding Takes Place in Front of the Yellow Duckling

On November 1, the Taoyuan Land Art Festival entered its seventh day, with visitor numbers surpassing one million by the previous day. Yesterday (October 31), a traditional Hakka-style Fanjiang wedding, rich in local cultural elements, was held in the Fanjiang Ancestral House area within the festival grounds. The groom, who is himself a member of the Fanjiang family, took the opportunity of the yellow duckling’s visit to Taoyuan to marry his wife, whom he met while studying in Australia and who hails from Hong Kong, holding their wedding ceremony back in their hometown. After the reception, the newlyweds also donned their wedding attire to take photos with the yellow duckling in its exhibition area.

Although the duckling experienced a rupture incident on the first, as an “open-air museum,” the land art festival uses the Xinyi Pond as its main stage. With the participation of renowned domestic and international artists, it not only rekindles the attention of Taoyuan locals scattered around the world toward this land but also introduces visitors to Taoyuan’s unique pond culture.

The pond-themed features showcased at the land art festival, along with the yellow duckling, have attracted not only throngs of Taiwanese visitors but also backpackers from Germany and the United States, all coming to admire the one-of-a-kind “pondland duckling.”
