Showcasing Taiwan’s Beauty with Flight Attendants – National Airline’s 2014 Cultural & Creative Calendar

Calendar products released by national airlines have long been one of the public’s favorite annual souvenirs. China Airlines today (1st) unveiled its 2014 monthly and desk calendars, featuring representative cultural and creative artists and their aesthetic works from Taiwan, including Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, Jimmy Liao, and Franz Porcelain. The calendars also highlight the beauty of Taiwan through the elegant appearances of six flight and ground service personnel.

The theme of China Airlines’ 2014 monthly and desk calendars extends from this year’s culturally creative series of painted aircraft, opening with the delicate brushstrokes of the “Hug” painted plane by children’s book illustrator Jimmy Liao. March and April showcase the vibrant spring vibe of “Animal Party” by sculptor Hong Yi, conveying local enthusiasm and energy. May and June feature the graceful movements of Cloud Gate Dance Theatre’s moving dance “Song of the Wanderers,” expressing the flow of artistic rhythm. July and August are adorned with the elegant “Butterfly Dance” by Franz Porcelain under the leadership of Chen Liheng, blending Eastern and Western aesthetics. September and October present the “Three Rarities Hall of the National Palace Museum” cultural space created by architect Chen Ruixian, connecting cultural heritage with daily life. The year concludes with the most spectacular performance of Taiwan’s iconic Pili Puppet Show by Huang Qianghua, delivering an unforgettable finale.

As 2014 is the Year of the Horse, the cover of China Airlines’ calendar this year specially features a horse painting by modern artist Wang Nong, who studied under Xu Beihong, paired with red plum clouds and the upcoming Boeing B777 new aircraft, symbolizing the leap into a new year full of hope in 2014. Wang Nong’s Year of the Horse artwork was also featured on China Airlines’ calendar in 1990, reflecting the concept of cultural heritage.
