The Zhushan to Fenchihu section of the Alishan Forest Railway was originally scheduled to open this year (2013), but due to remaining safety issues that needed to be addressed, the reopening schedule was delayed. Today, the Taiwan Railways Alishan Forest Railway Preparatory Office conducted a railway safety drill at Zhushan Station. Director Chang Chin-song stated that the Zhushan to Fenchihu section is expected to resume service before the end of November.

Chang Chin-song, director of the Taiwan Railways Alishan Forest Railway Preparatory Office, said on the 5th that the safety issues identified during the on-site inspection by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications' supervision team had all been rectified by the end of October. Seven consecutive days of train trial runs were also carried out, and the results were submitted to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications for review. If the review confirms there are no safety concerns, the Zhushan to Fenchihu section is expected to reopen before the end of November. (Source / CNA)
