Admission to Shilin Official Residence reduced by 50 NT – only for Taipei residents

The main building of Taipei’s Shilin Official Residence has started offering a half-price discount exclusively for Taipei residents from today. Citizens registered as residents of Taipei City can enjoy a 50% discount on admission tickets, bringing the price down from the original 100 NT to just 50 NT, in the hope of encouraging more locals to visit the residence.

The residence is currently hosting a special exhibition titled “The Scholarship of Mr. Chiang Kai-shek,” displaying replicas of his books, mottos, and the Chinese manuscript of “Russia in China,” along with other documents. During the exhibition period, visitors can also receive a postcard featuring the phrase “Reason and Charm” that Mr. Chiang used to encourage his son, Chiang Ching-kuo.

The site was previously the “Shilin Horticultural Experimental Branch” and later became the official residence of Chiang Kai-shek. Since opening to the public in 2011 (100th fiscal year), it has welcomed a total of 840,000 visitors. It was designated as a municipal historic site in 2000 and became a national historic site in 2005.
