“Cute Duck Bus” Roams the National Highways: Keelung’s Big Transport Operation

The globally popular yellow rubber duck is about to make its way to Keelung Harbor. The bright yellow, adorable “cute duck bus” is shouldering the heavy responsibility of transportation for this event. To welcome the yellow duck, various national highway bus companies have designed their own unique duck-themed buses. Meanwhile, the 50-day exhibition period also poses a transportation challenge for the compact city of Keelung. Bus companies including Keelung Bus, Fuhang Bus, Capital Bus, and Metro Bus have all planned special painted duck-themed buses to attract passengers. As soon as you board, you’ll see cute duck-themed patterns both inside and outside the vehicles. Even before the exhibition begins, the duck-themed buses are already roaming the highways.

Wang Ying-che, Deputy Director of Keelung City’s Department of Transportation and Tourism, stated that since the duck’s stay in Keelung coincides with three major holidays — Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and Lunar New Year — Keelung will face an unprecedented transportation challenge of up to 6 million visitors. This is considered the most significant transport operation in Keelung’s bus history and undoubtedly the biggest test for the city. In coordination with evacuation efforts, national highway buses not only handle their regular daily commuter loads but will also add extra service trips during the exhibition period, with a total capacity of over 30,000 visitors per day.
