Cherry blossoms can be enjoyed even on flat ground！Over 20,000 cherry trees will gradually bloom in Xinshe, Taichung

Not to be outshined by Wuling Farm, the well-known cherry blossom season in Xinshe Community, Taichung, will kick off on February 15. Nearly 20,000 cherry trees of various varieties—including mountain cherry, yaezakura, Fuji cherry, and botan cherry—will make their appearance. As you enter Xinshe, you’ll see cherry blossoms lining the roadsides, creating the stunning view of a “cherry blossom avenue.”

In recent years, the Xinshe Cherry Blossom Avenue has flourished through cultivation. The 2014 event marked the third time the cherry blossom festival was held, featuring mainly mountain cherries. The blooming area spans the Xinshe District Office, the Fushengli Environmental Park, roads near the Army 602nd Brigade, along Provincial Highway 129 in front of Xinshe High School and the Xinshe Nursery, as well as the slopes of Qingsixi.

The “Xinshe Cherry Blossom Avenue” is an emerging cherry blossom viewing spot in Taichung. The peak blooming period for mountain cherries is from the end of January to late February each year. Since 2001, the Xinshe Community has planted mountain cherries as street trees. Over the past three years, tens of thousands of cherry trees have been cultivated, creating the beautiful sight of the “Xinshe Cherry Blossom Avenue.”
