In Tuku, Yunlin, there’s a low-profile, fashionably understated crispy fried chicken shop tucked away in an alley. I had seen an online introduction to this place before and had told myself that if I ever got the chance to visit Yunlin, I must come try it. It just so happened that during my trip to Yunlin for an event, I dropped by.
And we even lingered around nearby, waiting until five o’clock when they opened to finally get our meal~ The fact that crispy fried chicken can be served in such a stylish, hipster setting is a creative rebranding that completely shatters the usual image of a fried chicken stall. This concept is really great—who says crispy fried chicken can’t be enjoyed elegantly and stylishly in a sit-down shop? Right?!

Located within a residential area, the shop features a modest yet fashionable and simple decor. From afar, it looks like a café or a casual diner—you’d never guess it actually sells crispy fried chicken.

The warm color scheme fills the interior with a cozy, comforting atmosphere.

The decor inside is elegant, clean, hygienic, and well-organized.
The seating area for dine-in has limited seats but is thoughtfully arranged. Simple tables and chairs paired with lemon-yellow and white wall tones create a warm and inviting vibe.

The walls display photos showing their journey—from selling grilled meat from a small cart in 1981, upgrading to a second-hand truck, and eventually opening this brick-and-mortar shop. It’s a shop with history~
What I found especially thoughtful about this Bobby’s Crispy Fried Chicken is that they offer hot barley tea. Eating crispy fried chicken can get you thirsty, and pairing it with a cup of unsweetened hot barley tea helps cut through the grease—it’s the perfect combo and such a considerate service. Just for that, I’d highly recommend this place.

They also make their own seasoned salt, crafted by veteran chefs and handmade too, with options including black pepper and a kid-friendly version.
You can ask them to season your food for you, or do it yourself—the variety of seasoning choices lets you customize as you like.

The atmosphere feels like a family-run business working hard together, yet very professional—they even use computers for bookkeeping and taking orders.

There are also classic signature items to guide first-time customers on what to order.

The environment is really clean and tidy—even the oil is changed regularly, which adds to the pleasant experience.

The menu offerings are similar to those of a regular crispy fried chicken shop, though slightly more unique items include red bean rice cakes, garden-style tofu skin veggie rolls, and moon-shaped shrimp patties. The rest are pretty standard. Crispy chicken, fish cakes, and sweet potatoes are all basics, after all.

Seeing the menu prices, we truly felt this shop has what it takes to succeed. With such a high-quality, fashionable, minimalist-chic decor, we expected higher prices, but nope—it’s about the same as any street-side fried chicken stall, which is super generous.
In return, for the same amount of money, they deliver this level of quality—offering customers a comfortable, refreshing environment, free hot tea, and a cozy spot to enjoy crispy fried chicken. Of course, people will come. To stand out, you need creativity and the willingness to go the extra mile.
Three of us ordered this much and it only came to a little over 200 NT dollars—not expensive at all. We could enjoy my little fresh-style crispy fried chicken in style and comfort ^^

Chicken skin, king oyster mushrooms, and crispy fried chicken—their fried items are plated thoughtfully, with a layer of paper towels underneath to absorb oil. They taste crispy and fragrant but not greasy at all, matching the refreshing vibe of the place!!
But I have to be honest—the chicken skin and king oyster mushrooms were both really delicious, crispy and crunchy enough, and the king oyster mushrooms were especially juicy. But the crispy fried chicken itself didn’t pass muster—it was a bit dry and not very flavorful. For someone like me who grew up helping my dad sell crispy fried chicken, it was just not good enough.
But aside from the crispy chicken, everything else was really great. It might not be mind-blowingly delicious, but it’s definitely passable—and the non-greasy aspect is a huge plus.

Sweet potatoes, red bean rice cakes, moon-shaped shrimp patties, and veggie rolls. The sweet potatoes are sprinkled with plum powder, offering a sweet-salty flavor. They’re a bit dry from frying, probably due to the nature of sweet potatoes themselves—not very moist. As for the red bean rice cakes, they’re quite tasty; a stronger red bean aroma would enhance the flavor more, but the texture is great—chewy outside, soft and Q inside. It’s the first time I’ve seen these sold at a fried chicken stall~
The tofu skin veggie rolls are a new product. The silky tofu skin pairs nicely with the crisp veggies, making for a refreshing and moist bite.

It’s pretty unique for a crispy fried chicken stall to sell moon-shaped shrimp patties, and theirs are thick and juicy. The taste? It’s alright—not much of that signature shrimp patty aroma—but still enjoyable. The best part? It’s not expensive... Overall, their fried items are crispy, not greasy, slightly dry but great value for money.
Honestly, the atmosphere here is such that even if they sold coffee alongside crispy chicken, the pairing would somehow work. I mean, with this level of decor and service quality, plus such affordable prices, and tasty food, there’s really nothing to complain about.
It’s great value, no wonder the business is doing so well. It’s a very competitive, refreshing-style crispy fried chicken shop~
Even their business cards are simple and cute~
