The Douliu Night Market is huge, cheap, and offers an incredibly diverse selection—plus there are plenty of popular stalls with long lines.

If you’re in Yunlin’s Douliu, especially on a Tuesday or Saturday, I highly recommend checking out the Douliu Cultural & Tourism Night Market. It’s seriously the best night market I’ve been to in my entire life!!

Aside from being absolutely massive, it’s also super cheap, has an incredible variety of food, and nothing feels overly repetitive. I think it’s better than the Garden Night Market and even more affordable. The food is just as good, and there are tons of popular stalls with long lines!! Wish we had skipped a couple meals beforehand~ XD
We came here because a local recommended it, but honestly, we didn’t expect the place to be this huge. Seeing the scale was genuinely surprising.


Even though the items sold here can also be found at other night markets, there’s definitely a distinct Yunlin vibe... haha~

The first stall that caught our eye was the Three-Cup Marinated Snacks. Other night markets might have something similar, but this one seems to be the original.


Basically, you pick your marinated snacks, and then the owner stir-fries them quickly with the three-cup sauce—it’s pretty unique!!


And looking at how packed the three-cup ingredients were—with basil, chili, and more—it was honestly super creative. Too bad we were already too full, so we passed on this one~

The clothes here are actually pretty good quality, but they’re only around 150 or 250 NT$ each. That’s way cheaper compared to stalls that start at 399 NT$!!

Even Korean goods are much cheaper here, and almost every clothing stall has really affordable prices—like 150, 250, 350 NT$. It’s been ages since I’ve seen prices like this, it’s so heartwarming. My friend started shopping right away~


Taipei Shenkeng Stinky Tofu—we came here because we heard their pickled vegetables are delicious!!


We eat stinky tofu all the time, nothing new—but this place’s version is really fragrant!! They offer both spicy and non-spicy sauces.

The auntie was super generous with the pickled veggies.


This stinky tofu is super tender, the spicy sauce is fragrant, and the pickled veggies are sweet, sour, and crispy. So good^^


One of the must-line-up foods: takoyaki. What’s so special about takoyaki? Every night market has it, right? Yeah, that’s what I thought at first too—but when you see this many people lining up, there’s definitely a reason. So we waited in line~ XD

There are lots of flavor options, but honestly, none of them are particularly unique—you can find these flavors in lots of places.


But watching the owner make the takoyaki, seeing how fresh and high-quality the ingredients are—I think I finally get why people line up for it.


It’s 50 NT$ per box, which isn’t exactly cheap for Yunlin prices, but each piece is huge, and they don’t skimp on the fillings.


There are literally giant octopuses inside!! Whenever you eat takoyaki elsewhere, you usually just get tiny little chopped-up bits of octopus—how sad is that?? After seeing this place’s takoyaki, I realized we’ve never had real takoyaki before… just octopus scraps!! Theirs is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, huge, and packed with filling. It’s so delicious it’s almost moving~~

The fruit prices here are okay—not super cheap—but I heard there’s a guava stall in the night market that’s supposed to be amazing. We didn’t go to the right one though, this guava was just alright.


This thing is called a Bear Hand Warmer Pillow, and it’s honestly super cute. It keeps your hands warm, just charge it for a bit and it instantly gets warm. Perfect for freezing cold hands or even your stomach. Especially great for girls during that time of the month—I think putting this warm pillow on your belly would feel super soothing. Girls should totally get one.


The Douliu Cultural Night Market also has a bunch of signature snacks, like this Egg-Wrapped Big Black Fish Cake—it’s pretty unique~


Aside from wrapping eggs, they also wrap stinky tofu in it!! How cool is that...


Fried fresh and eaten right away—that’s the freshest way.

Just fry it and then brush on some spicy sauce, and you’re good to eat!!


You can really taste the freshness of the fish cake and the stinky tofu inside—it’s soft and aromatic. The egg-wrapped ones are good too, and since the fish cake itself is already super fresh and tasty, the soft texture of the stinky tofu adds even more flavor and a rich layered mouthfeel.

Yunlin food tends to be pretty heavy in flavor, and after eating a few snacks, we got thirsty. Saw this oak barrel black tea that looked pretty good~


The price is okay—not expensive.


The milk is even placed right on the stall. Does that mean they’re showing off their real ingredients and no artificial additives?


It actually tastes pretty good, except it’s a bit sweet. The signature black tea really has that old-school flavor.

The line here is super long too～～ Not getting to try it is such a bummer. Doesn’t it look pretty special? It’s Ding Jian, ya know～XD


It looks kind of like Indian fried bread, but they added some creativity with flavors like pork cutlet and cheese—it looks super rich and delicious!!

I think it must really be tasty, otherwise why would the line be so long～ Anyway, when you're at the Douliu Humanities Night Market, just follow the locals in line—that’s a sure sign it’ll be good. Too bad we were already stuffed to the max, so we’ll have to come back next time!!

This night market is really huge. To explore it properly, you’d need at least two and a half to three hours～ We only stayed for half an hour but came away with bags full. I bought a Korean import bag and some fruit and snacks, my friend got two pairs of pants and some socks, etc. Plus, since we were already full when we arrived and weren’t hungry at all, we left before even seeing 1/3 of it. What a waste—we’ll definitely have to come back properly another time!!
