The Shiba Inu dango, which became an IG sensation for its soft, chewy mochi shaped like silly Shiba Inus, is created by Taoyuan’s Xingxing Studio. From December to January 2, 2018, the studio set up a pop-up booth on the 6th floor of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi A11. Although only selling Shiba Inu dango and one type of drink, the dango come in not only the standard version but also a Shiba Inu wearing a Christmas hat and a heart-shaped Shiba Inu dango. Dog lovers in Taipei shouldn’t miss this.
Each Shiba Inu dango from Xingxing Studio is handmade. Even the eyes, nose, and tiny chrysanthemum made from seaweed attached to the dango are carefully cut out and placed using small scissors by the staff — a very labor-intensive process. The Shiba Inu dango sold at the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi A11 pop-up are all freshly made at the Taoyuan flagship store and delivered to Taipei the same day. Aside from the regular version, there are also Shiba Inu dango wearing Christmas hats and heart-shaped ones, priced at NT$80, NT$120, and NT$100 respectively.
